Arnold Schwarzenegger has been very busy since he announced his return to acting in January 2011. The 65 year old actor is not showing any signs of slowing down, as he pushes on with exciting new ventures. Despite his legal problems, the infidelity scandal and difficult divorce, Schwarzenegger will be gracing the silver screens over the next couple of years. Let’s have a look at 5 confirmed movies we can expect from the legendary action hero.
Matthew Baer, Trevor Kaufman, Pierre-Ange Le Pogam, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Colin Bates, Joey Tufaro
John Scott 3
Schwarzenegger is set to star in the zombie apocalypse film as a father on a journey to help his daughter, who is slowly “turning”, and trying to come to terms with her infection. Chloe Moretz was initially earmarked as the infected daughter, however her busy schedule did not allow her to take on the role.
“Maggie” will start its production in the fall.
2. The Toxic Avenger
International Film Trust
Akiva Goldsman, Richard Saperstein, Charlie Corwin, Stephen Kessler, Michael Benaroya
Some of you may remember the 1984 surprise hit “The Toxic Avenger”, an action comedy film released by Troma Entertainment. The low budget B-movie caught on with geeks after a long and successful midnight movie engagement in late 1985. The cult classic reboot will be on Geekshizzle’s radar.
“The Toxic Avenger” is the tale of nerdy high-school kid who is exposed to toxic waste by a corrupt chemical company. He survives the ordeal with one major side effect: upon contact with toxic chemicals, he transforms into a monster with superhuman strength. Schwarzenegger would play “the Exterminator,” a former black ops agent, who trains Toxie to use his powers for good. Together they take on the lurking menace created by the polluters, and the polluters themselves.

Our favorite action superstars Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger team up in the action-thriller “Escape Plan”. Ray Breslin, portrayed by Stallone, is wrongly convicted of a crime and sent to serve his sentence in a maximum security prison he designed. He will have to devise a plan from his years of experience analyzing every high security prison, however his challenges are too great to handle by himself and recruits fellow inmate Emil Rottmayer, portrayed by Schwarzenegger, to assist with the daring escape from the high-tech prison.

We are anxiously waiting to see what the boys are going to come up with next. It is hard to not enjoy the Expendables, especially seeing all the old school action heroes kicking-but and taking names. The 80’s produced the most iconic action heroes and we are pleased to see another installment of the “one liner kings” on the big screen. This might be our last change to see the gang together for one final action packed film. Stallone is still playing with ideas for the third installment.
“We are thinking about different concepts – the third one is the hardest. The second is the natural progression. The third, that’s when the air gets rare. We’re thinking ambitiously about it… You now have to give audiences something they don’t expect at all – maybe even going into a different genre. “
5. Terminator 5
Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, Thriller
Megan Ellison, David Ellison
Laeta Kalogridis, Patrick Lussier
Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator
The Story: (TBC)
Seeing Schwarzenegger back to reprise his role as “The Terminator” will be tricky, considering his age and the number of years gone by since the James Cameron directed original. It will be interesting to see how they will incorporate the character and to what degree the T800 will influence the final outcome of the film. Hollywood had a fair swing at trying to revive the franchise with numerous squeals and a series. Critical reaction for “Terminator Salvation” was predominantly negative as many fans expected more from what seemed like the final installment to wrap-up the cult classic franchise.
That being said, there are many questioned regarding the direction Terminator 5 might take:
1. Will this be the final battle to conclude the franchise?
2. Will the story-line include the attempt to kill young John Connor and the Resistance?
3. Can we expect a post-Judgement Day story-line to mark a reboot of the franchise? (would be awesome!)
4. Can we expect a “young blood” approach with new faces to continue the fight against Skynet?
The successful formula for T1 and T2 should be considered, the rawness and edgy feel with suspense and sense of urgency was something that kept me in the seats. GeekShizzle will keep you posted of any new developments and information as it is released.
