The much talked about “Dr. Strange” movie has not found a leading man yet, but fans of the Marvel character can now at least rest assured that the production for the big screen adaptation is moving forward. Disney set a release date for the upcoming movie on a weekend that has not been claimed by other big players. July 8, 2016 is officially booked by the “Dr. Strange” project, so we‘ll have to wait and see who is prepared to take on Marvel/ Disney on what could be one of their most successful releases.

Marvel’s ‘Dr. Strange’ Movie Release and Production Start Dates Announced

Production is scheduled to kick off at U.K.’s Pinewood Shepperton this fall, with filming to start as soon as May 2015. The last time we checked in with casting news, The Hollywood Reporter was pretty sure that Joaquin Phoenix is the latest Hollywood heavyweight to be added to the mix of hopefuls to take on the coveted role. Edgar RamirezTom Hardy, Benedict CumberbatchJared Leto and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are also rumoured to play the greatest protector against magical peril in the Marvel Universe. Scott Derrickson will direct with a script rewritten by Jon Spaihts.
