Johnny Depp is negotiating with Marvel to take on the role as Dr. Strange. The exciting news was brought to our attention by Latino Review who says that “The 50-year-old actor is a comic book fan, and is said to be very interested in jumping onto the Marvel machine.”They also note that Marvel’s owner, Disney, still maintains a good relationship with the mega stars who earned the studio billions with one of their flagship franchises “The Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Alice in Wonderland”. Depp is already attached to take on another “Pirates” movie set to be released in 2016. The studio is apparently willing to clear Depp’s schedule, should he agree on staring as Dr. Strange.
The original script had a 30-year-old Dr. Strange in mind, but Marvel is willing to alter the script if Depp is onboard. We are reminded that Depp’s involvement is only noted and that his role is not finalised. If successful, we might see Depp’s character introduced in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” set to be released on May 1, 2015. The “Dr. Strange” movie will form part of Marvel’s Phase 3 releases in 2016.
