Henry Cavill can be seen sporting his famous superhero costume in the first official picture for the super-hero in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice“. Standing while drenched in the rain, Cavill’s Man of Steel is on a building rooftop with a dark city landscape in the background (Is it Gotham City?). With filming currently underway in Detroit, director Zack Snyder took some time out of his busy schedule to speak to USA Today about the upcoming DC pic.

Snyder says that Cavill is more comfortable in the role as the Man of Steel in the sequel:

“We’ve both created this guy and we can push him around a little bit,”

“The more time I spend with Henry, the more he’s Superman to me.”

He also draws inspiration from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy to pit Superman and Batman (Ben Affleck) against each other in his crossover movie:

“I was in no rush to put Batman in the movie,”

“but on the other hand it seemed organic the way our story was unfolding to start to feather him in.”

Regarding the dynamics between the two superheroes pitted against each other, he says:

“there is a ‘v’ in between their names” “to keep it from being a straight ‘versus’ movie, even in the most subtle way.”

Reports late last year suggested that Batman will be “Tired and Weary”. Snyder confirms this by saying “it’s cooler to see a crusty old Batman beating the snot out of guys.” Plot details for the upcoming DC pic is still under wraps. Cavill and Affleck will be joined by Amy Adams who reprises her role as Lois Lane, and Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman. Recent reports also tease that Jason Momoa will take on the role as Aquaman, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Cameo appearances by some members of the Justice League have also been rumored; Nightwing, Flash and Green Lantern have been mentioned so far. “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” is set to be released on May 6, 2016.
