‘Star Wars’ Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew will be suiting up again as the tall hairy sidekick in “Star Wars Episode 7”. The story emerged when Mayhew cancelled an appearance at Texas convention, Comicpalooza “due to filming”. Sources believe that Mayhew is set to film his parts in the upcoming “Star Wars” pic which is set to take place May 23-26, around the same time as Comicpalooza. There was a rumor that the 69-year-old actor will be recast following his corrective surgery in order for him to stand up straight and walk unassisted. According to The Hollywood Reporter Mayhew is expected to reprise his role! The English actor stands over 2.18 m (7.2 foot) tall hence the reason for his role as the iconic Wookie. Many “Star Wars” fans will be familiar Mayhew’s documentary “Standing in the Stars: The Peter Mayhew Story” which chronicles his journey as he underwent double knee replacement surgery due to gigantism.

The most recent official press release via StarWars.com confirms that Disney and Lucasfilm announced that principal photography on J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode 7” will commence May 2014, and will be based at London’s historic Pinewood Studios. Additional casting news mention that “Lost” and “The Lord of the Rings” co-star Dominic Monaghan suggest that the studio is “putting together a cast of essentially unknowns. [they] want to follow the ’77 ‘New Hope’ cast’.”
Additional rumors also suggest that Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher are expected to reprise their roles in the upcoming flick. Adding fuel to the fire, there is a saucy rumor suggesting that Carrie Fisher is set to join the ‘Star Wars Episode 7′ production in London for Six Months. It has also been confirmed that “Star Wars: Episode 7” is set about 30 years after the events of “Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi”, and will star a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces. “Star Wars: Episode 7” will be release in theaters on December 18, 2015.
