Ciudad
It has been over a year since we received any updates since the announcement that Dwayne Johnson will be taking on Ciudad. The film is based on the graphic novel co-written by Joe and Anthony Russo and Ande Parks that centers on a black market mercenary who is hired by a Brazilian drug lord to rescue his kidnapped daughter. “You, Me & Dupree” and “Community” filmmakers Joe and Anthony Russo are set to direct the film. The Russo Brothers are better known for their television work in “Arrested Development”, which is set for a big screen release. Their competency to direct action films will be tested and by the looks of things we might be in for an interesting ride. No recent announcements have been made, and for now we have to assume that the film is still on the cards to be made.

Arabian Nights
Genre: Action /Adventure/Drama
Dwayne Johnson (Sinbad) and Liam Hemsworth (Ali Baba) will star in Arabian Nights. It is difficult to not side with Collider, saying that the premise of the film is a bit silly. The reason why this film made the list as one of Johnson’s films to keep an eye on, is because he will be reunited with “The Scorpion King” director Chuck Russell, who will be at the helm.
More reason to be exited, Anthony Hopkins has reportedly signed up, however his character is described as “an evil sorcerer who killed Sinbad’s love, a mermaid, and is looking to amass more magic for himself.” We agree with Collider who said they are a bit skeptical at this point, however this might be a fun night out at the movies.

Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon
Action /Adventure/Fantasy
It has been over a year since New Line Cinema confirmed that it is moving forward with the sequel which will bring back director Brad Peyton and screenwriters Mark & Brian Gunn. No deals have been closed with any returning cast members. Entertainment Weekly reported that both Hutcherson and Johnson would “absolutely” reprise their roles as Sean and Hank respectively. At the time the script are three weeks in development and the sequel was targeted for a 2014 release in the U.S.
“Journey 3” will be based on Jules Verne’s book “From the Earth to the Moon”, which Michael Caine’s character passes on to Sean and Hank at the end of “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island”.
Producer Flynn says:
“We’ve got a big, expansive adventure for them to go on based on that book, but it’s not exactly what it seems.”

Empire State (2013)
Genre: Action /Drama
Empire State is available on DVD and Blu-ray from September 3, 2013
Even though “Empire State” will be a straight to DVD release, the film still deserves our attention. Based on a true story, the trailer features some intense action scenes, and plays with moral ambiguity related to a huge money heist. The stolen money (presumably) is handed over to the widow of a colleague who died in the line of duty, hinting at a Robin Hood spin-off.
The action drama tells the story of two childhood friends who plan to rob an armored car depository. Chris (Liam Hemsworth) and Eddie (Michael Angarano) are security guards with the Empire State Armored Truck Company. They draw up an elaborate scheme to rob the company they work for, resulting in the largest cash heist in U.S. History. James Ransone (Dwayne Johnson), the veteran NYPD Detective is hot on their trail and to make matter worse, local crime bosses want to know who stepped on their turf with no agreement to take their cut.
