Calvin Harris gives more reason to be at the top of the list for the Top 10 Highest Paid DJs of 2014, by nabbing Spotify’s song of the summer title with his track aptly titled, “Summer”. Harris’ club song (featuring vocals by the DJ) became the most streamed song in the past three months after it was played 160 million times globally according to Spotify’s announcement on Thursday, September 4.
Online streaming channels are gaining popularity with more users preferring “cloud” based media streams. “Summer” only peaked at No. 7 on Billboard Hot 100, but it managed to dust off some serious competition from the likes of Ariana Grande’s “Problem”, Magic!’s “Rude” and Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy”. Domestically, “Summer” only managed to take the fifth spot, preceded by Azalea’s “Fancy” in first place. Azalea and Charli XCX hit is followed by Magic!’s “Rude”, Grande’s “Problem” and Nico & Vinz’s “Am I Wrong”.
