“The Expendables 3” officially started filming in Bulgaria on Monday, August 19. We finally have the synopsis as well as full list of actors featured in the highly-anticipated movie. Lionsgate and Millennium Films announced through a press release, that Mel Gibson is officially the film’s bad guy Conrad Stonebanks, who years ago co-founded “The Expendables” with Barney (Sylvester Stallone).
Stonebanks is a ruthless arms trader who is forced to face-off against his old friend and co-founder Barney, who “brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy.”
Reprising their roles:
Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
New members:
Wesley Snipes, Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas, Kellan Lutz and Harrison Ford.
Rumoured but didn’t make the cut:
Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan and Milla Jovovich.
Original member of the old school team of heroes Bruce Willis will not return after his $4 million fee demand got rejected by the production team. Stallone wasn’t impressed, giving Willis the boot and replacing him with Harrison Ford.
Due for release on August 15, 2014 in the U.S, “The Expendables 3” will be helmed by “Red Hill” director Patrick Hughes and it’s co-written by Creighton Rothenberger and Katrin Benedikt.
