We finally have some visuals for Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang in Marvel’s much talked about “Ant-Man”. The photo was officially released after principal photography started on Monday, August 18. The pic was taken on location near the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Rudd is seen standing in front of a van while wearing a black hoodie and gloves with a leather bag in his right hand. The pic reveals the origin story where Scott Lang and Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) join powers to recover the stolen technology. Rudd is sporting a stubble beard and he looks roughed up sporting some stitches on his face.

It is unclear what to expect from the storyline specifically, but we definitely know that a high stakes heist will take place with tech savvy Lang as the skilled thief. Check out the official synopsis below.

Official Ant-Man synopsis:

“Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”

It will be interesting to see if “Ant-Man” will follow the comic book storyline with Soviet KGB Agents trying to steal the shrinking technology from Dr. Pym who discovered a process in which he would manipulate a newly discovered group of subatomic particles through magnetic fields (or “Pym Particles”). He worked on behalf of the government on a formula to help provide immunity to low-level radiation, but he was later held hostage by The Agents.

It seems the plot will also deviate from Lang’s origin story by the look of things, specifically where Lang originally steals the shrinking tech from Pym to save Dr. Erica Sondheim who was kidnapped by Darren Cross. Dr. Sondheim was assisting Lang’s fatally ill daughter who was diagnosed with a heart condition. Irrespective of how the storyline is expected to pan out, everything seems to be coming together nicely even though the production took a hit with the exit of some of their stars, and the huge loss of director Edgar Wright. Any geeks out there getting psyched for Marvel’s “Ant-Man”?

“Ant-Man” is set to be released on July 17, 2015.
