The day has finally come for the three wacky friends from Berkeley, California to make their debut on the silver screen. That’s right geeks, the universe is balanced now because “The Lonely Island” is getting their own movie! Thanks to “Saturday Night Live” we have become avid fans of Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone as they parody the entire world in their songs and music videos.  Variety says that Universal Picture has acquired the untitled The Lonely Island project that will star the comedy trio. Can this week get any better? Earlier today GS reported that Will Arnett spilled the beans about a new season for ‘Arrested Development’!

The site also mentioned that the project will be co-directed by Schaffer and Taccone from the script they co-write with Samberg. So it’s an all Lonely Island affair with the undeniable urge to tickle your funny bone in all the right places! Judd Apatow (“Knocked Up” and “The 40 Year-Old Virgin”) is attached as a producer alongside Universal’s Erik Baiers who will oversee the project for the studio.

The film set to take place somewhere “in the world of music” has not booked a release date yet. The trio is well-known for including A-list cameo appearances by stars such as James Franco, Edward Norton, Zach Galifianakis,  Jack Black,  Snoop Dogg,  Seth Rogen, Danny McBride and Will Ferrell to name a few.
