The CW gave the pilot order for a supernatural crime series based on a DC Comic titled “iZombie”. The project comes from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas and “Mars” writer/producer, Diane Ruggiero.

 Synopsis:

“A med student-turned-zombie takes a job in the coroner’s office to gain access to the brains she must reluctantly eat to maintain her humanity, but with each brain she consumes, she inherits the corpse’s memories. With the help of her medical examiner boss and a police detective, she solves homicide cases in order to quiet the disturbing voices in her head.”

This is CW’s second DC Comics pilot which joins “Arrow” spin-off “The Flash”. Geeks are in for another treat courtesy of the popular television network, a potential series based on DC’s Hourman is in development as well (via Hollywood Reporter).

The “Supernatural” spin-off will be called, “Supernatural: Tribes” <<update: Tribes has changed to Bloodlines>>. Fans of the show can expect a backdoor pilot episode of the spin-off series, airing later this season. According to TVLine, a new character will be introduced in or around episode 20, which will act as a backdoor pilot for the spin-off.  The new series “will explore the clashing hunter and monster cultures of Chicago.”  “Supernatural” writer Andrew Dabb is back to pen the script, and executive produce alongside Eric Kripke, Robert Singer, showrunner Jeremy Carver and McG. Singer will direct the Warner Bros.
