Gerard Butler is in final negotiations to play the infamous bank robber Bodhi in the remake of the cult classic movie “Point Break”. Bodhi was previously portrayed by Patrick Swayze in the 1991 movie, which tells the story of an FBI agent (portrayed by Keanu Reeve) who goes undercover to catch Bodhi and his gang of bank robbers. The movie also focused on the Southern California surf scene which served as a cover for the crime ring.

The remake will be set in the international world of extreme sports instead of the surf scene. Director Ericson Core (“Invincible”) will helm the remake with a script from Kurt Wimmer (“Salt”, “Total Recall”). Core is also known for his cinematography work for “The Fast and the Furious”.
The original movie was made on a budget of $24 million and went on to make $43.2 million in North America and $40.3 million internationally for a worldwide total of $83.5 million.
