Think back two years and you will remember that the market share war was a pretty close two horse battle between Apple and Google, iOS and Android. A mere 2 years later and Android is now fully in control of the market. It’s operating System is in control of an estimated 81% of the Smartphone market.

This statistic has become less relevant over the years as well, especially for the Apple fans, as Apple has only one distributor of their iOS software, which is of course themselves. While Android has a massive list of distributors ranging from themselves as well, Samsung, HTC, LG, Motorola and Sony. Nevertheless the battle is just about won and I don’t see this changing any time soon.

Interesting though is Microsoft’s increase with their Windows Mobile. They may have only 4% but compared to last year they’ve doubled market share. Blackberry is falling completely off the bus with 1% while Apple also lost ground moving down from 15.6% to 13.4%.

But, with the new iPhones now available, and Samsung struggling to sell its flagship Galaxy S4, we may be in for a surprise come 2014:
