Ford, a sports coach, is a pivotal character from Robert Kirkman’s comic book series. The former Army sergeant is described as “vulgar with rough edges but wise”. Cudlitz was kind enough to share the first look at his character via a post on Twitter. Ford’s travelling companion, Porter, is a former high school science teacher.

Executive producer Scott Gimple said:

“We’re going to tell a version of the Eugene, Abraham and Rosita comic stories.”

Joining them on the road is Rosita,  portrayed by Christian Serratos.

He continues:

“I love those characters from the book, they are very different flavors of comic book characters than we’ve seen on the show.”

Gimple teases Porter’s appearance and also says that disguising him will hide the fact the he is a smart guy.

“Josh looks breathtaking in a mullet; he was born to wear one,”

“I can proudly announce we will see a mullet!”

The fourth season premier for “The Walking Dead” was aired on Sunday, October 13 on AMC. The The season 4 opener broke the show’s previous records set by the season 3 finale.
