Entertainment Weekly reported that the fourth season premiere of the “The Walking Dead” delivered 16.1 million total viewers and 10.4 million viewers in adults 18-49 demo, breaking the show’s previous records set by the season 3 finale with 12.4 million total viewers and 8.1 million viewers 18-49. The season 4 opener should exceed 20 million viewers if the reruns are included.
The pilot episode for the fourth season was aired on Sunday,October 13. The post-apocalyptic show ranked as the No.1 telecast in adults 18-49 among other programs, this is impressive considering it had to compete with the Sunday Night Football game showing the Cowboys vs. Redskins.

Post-episode chat show “Talking Dead” has also reaped from the benefits of the huge opening which became the most viewed premiere in series history with 5.1 million viewers, including 3.3 million adults aged 18-49.
