Lucas told the magazine:
“We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison — or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation,”
“So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’ Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-dee-doo, but we were negotiating with them. … I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.”
Gosling was attached to the project however his representatives denied the actor entering talks to star in the anticipated sequel. Huffingtonpost.com also reveals that Gosling will back away from acting in the short term.
This is what he had say:
“I’ve been doing it too much,”.
“I’ve lost perspective on what I’m doing. I think it’s good for me to take a break and reassess why I’m doing it and how I’m doing it. And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does.”
Alex Pettyfer and Rachel Hurd-Wood
Latino-Review.com learned that Alex Pettyfer (“Magic Mike”) and Rachel Hurd-Wood are lining up for a chance to star in the picture. Pettyfer reportedly went in for a role that might be [Luke] Skywalker’s son, now that Gosling has declined. Hurd-Wood (Wendy Darling of “Peter Pan”) has read for the role of Princess Leia’s daughter. They are not joining the cast just yet, the site adds that there will be more auditions for the coveted roles.

She told Latino-Review.com:
“No, no rumors I don’t know how they get started,” she told Latino-Review. “But it would be great to be a part of it. I don’t think Disney doesn’t know what’s really going to happen. I don’t even think they cast the principle roles yet.”
The rumors started after Moretz, posted numerous “Star Wars”-related tweets earlier this year.
She teased in one of the messages.
“Already on episode III revenge of the sith. Today was productive,”
The Academy Award-nominated actress spoke to Sky News, confirming that she has auditioned for a role in the sci-fi movie, but also adds, “So has everyone.” Unfortunatly we can’t confirm the part she auditioned for, Ronan says the movie bosses would “chop off her head with a light-sabre” if she said more of the film.

Michael Arndt will write the script, with Kathleen Kennedy, George Lucas, Bryan Burk and director Abrams serving as producers. Star Wars: Episode VII will be an original story and not directly based on the various novels, graphic novels, or other materials in the Star Wars Expanded Universe that take place during the post-Return of the Jedi time period. Disney aims to continue the story that began back in 1977.
Similar to all previous “Star Wars” films, the next installment will take place in Britain. The upcoming sequel is slated for a December 2015 release. This will go down in the history books since every chapter has been up in May.
