Fans have been fighting the decision ever since Ben Affleck was announced as the new “Caped Crusader”.  Some fans even took the liberty of starting a petition to see the “Argo” star removed from the cast for the anticipated “Man of Steel” sequel.

It turns out that Affleck’s surprise casting also affected the bookies according to Entertainmentwise.com. Affleck was pinned at 66/1 with the odds stacked against him to be the next Batman. I would say at those odds it’s pretty obvious the bookies believed that Affleck had no chance of being cast as Batman.

Like it or not, Affleck will be suiting up for the sequel set to be released in 2015. The bets are on and the odds are not looking to great for Affleck. Bookies say the odds of him winning an Oscar for the role are 50/1. The odds of “Man of Steel 2” failing to become the highest-grossing film of 2015 are 1/1. Affleck’s addition to the cast had a huge impact on the overall odds, before Affleck was cast the odds was stacked at 11/4 for “Man of Steel 2” to be a success.

Other odds released include seeing Affleck replaced after only one film are 5/2 and the odds of Matt Damon being cast as Robin are 25/1.
