GeekShizzle is getting a little more excited about the Robert Rodriguez feature sequel to “Machete”. Hopefully we will not be let down as we preempted the possible loop holes along the way whilst filming the sequel, Machete Kills.
Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federal agent Machete, who is recruited by the President of the United States (Charlie Sheen) for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer (Mel Gibson) who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet. Whilst the original Machete had its moments, we’re hoping that Machete Kills will bring it home! The cast selection is interesting however there are some loopholes with the release of the sequel:
- The U.S. government recruits Machete to battle his way through Mexico in order to take down an arms dealer who looks to launch a weapon into space. Not the most original story line to go with.
- The producers of the film took action against the filmmaker’s production company, many films failed to produce the goods with early signs of trouble at the office.
- Robert Rodriguez had his attention divided with “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” releasing at more or less the same time.
- There are talks for a third film set to take Machete to space; the guys are running out of ideas.
That being said, we received a number responses from fans regarding the release of the sequel and some valid points were made regarding the Grind House production:
“Cheesy sequels are a part of the grindhouse culture. Maybe you weren’t alive to experience it. I say two thumbs up to RR for keep with the tradition unlike his partner in crime QT. They had a vision and RR is sticking to it. “ – Shawsome – May 11, 2013
The legendary Charlie Sheen will be portraying the character, Carlos Estevez, the U.S. president.
The cast includes: Lady GaGa (La Chameleon), Sofia Vergara (Madame Desdemona featuring a machine gun bra), Michelle Rodriguez (reprising her role as Luz) and Jessica Alba (reprising her role as Sartana Rivera) to name a few.
“Machete Kills” is set to be released in the States on September 13.
