clash-of-clans-logo We rarely respond to adds that prompt us to try out an App, but this is how we first heard of the iOs game Clash of Clans. We previously mentioned Clash of Clans as one of our Top 5 games to play when you are bored to death.

At first Clash of Clans seems to be your usual build-em-up type of game, but it quickly turns into a highly addictive game that you simple have to log into repeatedly.

Clash of Clans is an addictive mixture of strategic planning and competitive fast-paced combats. Raise an army of Barbarians, War Wizards, Dragons and other mighty fighters. Join a clan of players and rise through the ranks, or create your own Clan to contest ownership of the Realm. Driving back the goblins is just the first step – your quest isn’t over until your clan reigns supreme over all others!

You start off with a pretty basic town:

You must now build barracks to train armies, mines to get more guild, and elixirs to get more uuhhm.. elixir. Soldiers are used to defeat other players and gain more trophies, gold and elixir. Mines and Elixirs are used to upgrade your town and buildings.

Developer Supercell planned this to the tee. You only have two builders, and building or upgrading anything takes time. Ex. Upgrading your cannons to the next level takes 45min, and as the cannons level increase, so does the time it takes to upgrade. Because you only have 2 builders, you have to plan carefully what you do with them. Build new buildings, or upgrade them.

The game also makes use of Gems. Gems are used to speed up the building process, or skip the entire process of time you have to wait. Gems cost real money though, and 500 gems can set you back roughly 2 UK Pounds.

After a few days or weeks you would have probably upgraded your towns walls, cannons, turrets and units to look something like this:

The game is so addictive you will find yourself checking up on building progress multiple times a day.

There is also the opportunity to join a clan. A clan consists of other players that can help each other out by donating units to help them defend, or attack.

We highly recommend this game if you have a nag for strategic type games, that is easy to understand, fun to play and addictive to the core.
