HBO released a new teaser for “Boardwalk Empire” season 5, featuring some snippets that reveal the current state and future of some of the popular characters. Nucky (Steve Buscemi) is seen throwing someone against a wall in anger, while his brother Eli (Shea Whigham) is approached in a street at gunpoint.

Gillian Darmody (Gretchen Mol) is presumably locked up in a nuthouse while she is seen lying in a bathtub in an all-white room. We also get to see the introduction of two new woman characters, one being an entertainer at a club, and the other, a mysterious attractive brunette with no clothes on while lying on a bed.
Chalky White (Michael Kenneth Williams) is incarcerated while cracking down a huge rock. At the opening of the teaser, Chalky is seen in a living room talking to two girls.
The younger girl says:
“There’s forgiveness for everyone. That’s what Jesus said,”
He replies:
“Baby girl… Jesus was WRONG.”
The critically acclaimed crime and period drama series will be set during the great depression when all the glitz and glamour of their glory years will be long forgotten. According to Williams, the final season will flash forward seven years when “the days of the shiny shoes and fancy suits are long gone”.
The fifth and final season will premiere Sunday, September 7 at 9/8c on HBO.
