Deborah Ann Woll has officially been cast in Marvel’s new Netflix series, “Daredevil“. Woll will take the lead as Karen Page, opposite Boardwalk Empire star Charlie Cox who will take on the role of the Man Without Fear. Karen Page started out as a secretary in Matt Murdock’s law firm and eventually became the titular character’s love interest. This also marks the first big gig for Wol since the announcement that the show she is currently working on will reach its end. She is better known by vampire geeks as the fiery redhead in HBO’s “True Blood”.  She plays Jessica Hamby, a teenage vampire who is turned by one of the oldest vamps in the series, Bill Compton. He takes her under his wing and teaches the newby how to survive as a vampire.

Cox and Woll will be joined by Vincent D’Onofrio who will villainize the series. Rosario Dawson, Elden Henson and Peter Shinkoda have also been hired as series regulars. Marvel’s 13-episode drama series will be helmed by Steven S. DeKnight of “Spartacus” after Drew Goddard of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Lost” left the project. Goddard is a huge loss as director considering his wealth of knowledge and experience but luckily the studio will keep him on as an executive producer and consultant.

Daredevil is not the only series coming to the streaming giant. Disney and Netflix joined forces to stream at least four original series based on Marvel characters. Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage will be joining the list of focus characters to make their way to Netflix. Four thirteen-episode series are also expected to culminate in a miniseries titled “The Defenders”.
