Geeks following HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” will be familiar with Charlie Cox, best known for playing Owen Sleater the Irish enforcer with IRA ties. Hollywoodreporter.com has the latest scoop confirming that Cox will don the red crime-fighting suit while moonlighting as lawyer Matt Murdock in Netflix’s “Daredevil”. Marvel’s 13-episode drama series will be helmed by Steven S. DeKnight of “Spartacus” after Drew Goddard of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Lost” left the project as showrunner over the weekend. Goddard is a huge loss as director considering his wealth of knowledge and experience but luckily the studio will keep him on as an executive producer and consultant. DeKnight on the other hand is equally up to the task boasting with the bloody “Spartacus” as his résumé which we enjoyed thoroughly.

Daredevil is not the only series coming to the streaming giant. Disney and Netflix joined forces to stream at least four original series based on Marvel characters. Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage will be joining the list of focus characters to make their way to Netflix. Four thirteen-episode series are also expected to culminate in a miniseries titled “The Defenders”.
