There is a possibility that Yellowjacket will take the lead as the main villain in Marvel’s “Ant-Man”. The friendly guys of at Baddas Digest claims that even thought Yellowjacket is one of Hank Pym’s alter egos, we should not assume immediately that Hank Pym is the villain since the scientist “is much more of a mentor to Scott Lang in this film.” Early this year the studio announced that Paul Rudd will take on the role as Scott Lang, and Michael Douglas will take on the role as the inventor of Ant-Man’s shrinking particles and equipment, Pym.

We mentioned before that there are few comic book characters as divisive as Pym, people either love or hate this character due to the almost unmanageable concepts his characters are based on. Pym is well-known for his outrageous aliases which include the likes of Ant-Man, Giant-Man (Goliath), Wasp and Yellowjacket.
In the comic books, Pym accidentally dropped and smashed some vials containing various unknown gases that wreaked a radical temporary personality change in Pym. He took the new identity of Yellowjacket, claimed that he had murdered Henry Pym, kidnapped, van Dyne, and proposed marriage to her, as Pym had long wanted to do.

The site adds that besides Pym being ruled out as the main baddie, we can however expect Darren Cross to suit up as “the industrialist villain,”. They were unable to confirm if Cross will take on the villainous role as Yellowjacket. The site did however make no mention of the costumed criminal Rita DeMara, calling herself Yellowjacket. Perhaps we can expect a woman to antagonize the upcoming “Ant-Man” movie? According to the comic books, DeMara stole the original Yellowjacket uniform from the Avengers Mansion, and modified it for her own use. She also clashes with Pym’s ex-wife, Janet van Dyne, the Wasp, while raiding Pym’s former laboratory in van Dyne’s New Jersey home.
Marvel has made no mention of Yellowjacket thus far and by the look of things, we can’t blame Edgar Wright for stepping down as the director of the anticipated Marvel movie. Hopefully the details will come together so that Wright’s work can continue. It seems unlikely though, Wright’s controversial departure sparked rumors suggesting that the studio had some notes for Wright and his co-writer Joe Cornish, who turned in two drafts attempting to satisfy the studio without compromising their vision. Marvel apparently gave the script to two less experienced writers, one of whom is from their in-house writing team. Wright raised concerns with the studio about the revisions and met with Marvel to formally resign. Yellowjacket might be the product of the “two less experienced writers”? GeekShizzle will keep you posted!

Additional casting rumors suggest that Michael Pena has entered early negotiations for an undisclosed role, and former “Lost” star Evangeline Lilly is in talks to take on a role as a female lead with some insiders suggesting that “she would play the daughter of Pym (Douglas) and Lang’s love interest.” Carey Stoll and Patrick Wilson are expected to take on the villainous roles.
“Ant-Man” is set to be released on July 17, 2015.
