It is no secret that Simon Pegg is siding with Edgar Wright in the abrupt “Ant-Man” exit drama recently. Longtime buddies Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright are well-known for their collaborations and creative ideas. After six years of working on projects in Hollywood, the three friends produced the critically acclaimed “Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy”, featuring the movies “Shaun of the Dead”, “The World’s End” and “Hot Fuzz”.

Pegg praised the original story drafted by Wright and fellow collaborator Joe Cornish, claiming he had read their script. Speaking to Sky Movies, he said:

“I think it’s a terrible shame,”

“I get why perhaps it’s happened. Maybe they want a particular thing in line with a particular other thing, but if you hire a director who has a particular vision, you’ve got to expect him or her to make a such and such film. An Edgar Wright film,”

“That’s what that script was and it was interesting,”

“The characters had a real journey. I can’t really say too much about it because obviously it’s not my thing, but it’s their loss.”

The actor also tweeted:

“Feel lucky that I got to read @EdgarWright and Joe Cornish’s Ant-Man script. Daring, fun, funny and hugely exciting. Shame we won’t see it.”

Marvel announced Wright replacement recently after he left the project due to creative differences. Peyton Reed (“The Break-Up”, “Bring It On”) is officially onboard to helm the project. The storyline is still under wraps but earlier reports and casting announcement suggest that we will have two protagonists in the superhero flick. Paul Rudd will take on the role as Scott Lang, we assume he will also be Ant-Man. Michael Douglas joined the cast as the inventor of Ant-Man’s shrinking particles and equipment.

Additional casting rumors suggest that Michael Pena has entered early negotiations for an undisclosed role, and Former “Lost” star Evangeline Lilly is in talks to take on a role as a female lead with some insiders suggesting that “she would play the daughter of Pym (Douglas) and Lang’s love interest.”

“Ant-Man” is set to be released on July 17, 2015.
