Meg Ryan has officially joined the cast ensemble of the “How I Met Your Mother” spin-off, “How I Met Your Dad”. The 53-year-old actress will not appear on-screen, she’s hired to voice the mother in the upcoming CBS comedy pilot. The “Sleepless in Seattle” star will narrate the show in a similar fashion to the wildly popular “How I Met Your Mother” comedy show, which concluded its ninth and final season in March 2014.

CBS is still in the process of “picking up” the series which was scheduled to film its pilot in Los Angeles but will move to New York once “How I Met Your Dad” receives a series order. The new show will feature a twentysomething character named Sally at the center of the new journey. Sally has a husband of one year named Gavin and apparently she is already “thinking of calling it quits” with him. Sally’s circle of friends include best friend Juliet and “a hot nerd” named Frank. She will have an older brother Danny who is married to Todd and the narrator will be a Sally from the future, mimicking the flashback format of the original series. MacLaren’s Pub will also feature in the spin-off!
