The controversial ending to CBS’ popular ‘How I Met Your Mother’ may have left fans yearning for more in the light of the spin-off series that has been waiting in the starting blocks to be picked up. The television network giant revealed its primetime line-up for upcoming shows to hit the small screen this summer and sadly, ‘How I Met Your Dad’ is not one of the lucky newcomers to make it on the list.

The much talked about series has not received the boot completely according to CBS entertainment chairman Nina Tassler who confirmed that the show will not be picked up just yet on Wednesday, May 14.

She said the following in a statement:

“There were elements on the pilot that didn’t work out,”

“we tried to work out about redoing the pilot,” but “it wasn’t what [creators Carter Bays, Craig Thomas Bays and Emily Spivey] wanted to do… That’s not happening right now. Sometimes you run into these kind of issues and you hope they can resolve themselves in that time frame.”

In short, we have to assume that the show can only move forward unless creators Bays, Thomas, & Spivey and producer 20th Century Fox TV agreed to shoot a new pilot. There must have been some serious creative differences to pass on a spin-off show that could have solved CBS’s Monday ratings issues with “HIMYM” bowing out. The logical angle with raking in“HIMYD” ratings is the existing “HIMYM” viewer-base sampling the new show. Viewer curiosity and the proven track record of the creative team would have secured at least 50% of the spin-off’s success. Are there any “How I Met Your Mother” fans out there that are disappointing that “How I Met Your Dad” is not coming to CBS?
