Coldplay fans are surprised this week with the release of a new single and its accompanied music video! The surprise track titled “Midnight” was released on Tuesday, February 25. The imogen heap-esque song is mystical and ambient, the kind of “out the box approach” we’ve grown accustomed to with new releases from Chris Martin and the guys. “Midnight” is presumably taken from the band’s upcoming sixth studio album, which is expected to arrive in either May or June this year. The haunting black-and-white music video was shot in negative exposure by Wigmore who directed the band’s “The Hardest Part” clip. The atmospheric song also sees the British rock band perform in the woods with imagery captured of the guys as inverted silhouettes. It is unclear if “Midnight” will be flagship for their next studio album.
