The lead single on the “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” movie soundtrack will be by the British alternative rock band Coldplay. This will be their first new music since their 2011 album “Mylo Xyloto” and it’s the first original song contribution of the band for a motion picture.
The film’s director Francis Lawrence said in a statement:
“I have great respect and admiration for Coldplay, and we are thrilled with how well they have connected to the themes and ideas within the film,”
“Their unwavering passion and excitement for the project elevated the collaboration even further, and we can’t wait to share this music with audiences around the world.”
Lead singer and frontman Chris Martin is apparently a fan of the Suzanne Collins novel, who demonstrated his enthusiasm for the project by posting the song lyrics to “Atlas” on their Twitter account.
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” is the second installment in “The Hunger Games” film series. The anticipated blockbuster stars Academy Award winner Jennifer Lawrence alongside Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone and Jeffrey Wright, with Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland.
The movie hits theaters on November 22, the followup “Mockingjay”, is one of the Most Anticipated Movies of 2015
