Director J. J. Abrams is currently writing the script with Lawrence Kasdan after Arndt bowed out of the project. Arndt wrote a story that focused on the offspring of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), with the original stars placed in the side roles, but Abrams didn’t approve of that going forward.

The storyline has not been revealed yet, but recent developments suggest that the seventh installment will continue with Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia at its centre. “Episode 7″ is set to be released on December 18, 2015. “Episode 8″ is to follow in 2017 and “Episode 9″ in 2019. The rumored Han Solo and Boba Fett origin stories will be released between the entries.
