The fifth season premiere for the long awaited return of NBC’s hit TV series “Community” didn’t perform as well as they expected. The return of showrunner Dan Harmon was one of the big reasons for the anticipated return of the popular comedy show. The show managed to only rake in 3.7 million viewers and a 1.3 rating in adults 18-49 from 8-8.30 P.M. before going down to 3 million viewers and 1.2 rating in the next half-hour. Compared to the show’s half-hour fourth-season opener last February, they dropped down 32% marking a record all-time low for a “Community” premiere.

Over on CBS, “The Big Bang Theory” drew 19 milion viewers and 5.3 ratings and 18.9 million viewers at 8 P.M., up 7 percent and two tenths from its fall finale. This definitely contributed to fewer viewers flipping channels over to NBC’s “Community”.
