The official trailer for “Godzilla” will make its way on Tuesday, December 10. In the meantime, “Godzilla” released two viral videos and a website (Mutoresearch.net) which introduces the “MUTO Research.” The clips are not revealing much at this stage as we are teased with unclear footage filled with static interference and glimpses of soldiers raiding a building.  Aaron Johnson portrays Ford, a Military Soldier responsible for tracking down and attempting to kill the beast. Elizabeth Olsen takes on the role as Ford’s wife and “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston will be the scientist. They are also supported by Ken Watanabe (“Inception”), Juliette Binoche (“The English”), Sally Hawkins (“Blue Jasmine”), with David Strathairn (“The Bourne Legacy”).

What is ‘MUTO Research’?

The upcoming pic is helmed by Gareth Edwards who earned worldwide acclaim for his feature directorial debut, “Monsters,” scoring 72% on review aggregator Rottentomatoes.com. Edwards admitted in an interview with  Shock Till You Drop that he is “highly aware – and everyone involved is incredibly aware – of everyone’s opinions on what this film has to do and what it has to be.” Being a self-proclaimed fan of the franchise, he certainly sounds like the right guy to bring to life one of the most iconic monsters in movie history.

Official synopsis, courtesy of Legendary Pictures:

“An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. “
