“Fifty Shades of Grey” began its principle production in Vancouver on Sunday, December 1, according to a recent report by the Vancouversun.com. Many pictures taken on set at Rainier Provisions Cafe have made its way online. The two stars selected to portray Anastasia Steele and wealthy young entrepreneur Christian Grey can be seen on the photos whilst filming a coffee date. In the novel, the coffee date portrays the couple’s initial ‘getting to know you’ conversation, in which Christian first sparks a serious interest in the young woman as he grills Ana about her life and her family.

“Pacific Rim” star Charlie Hunnam was originally cast to take on the role as the kinky businessman, however he dropped out due to his “immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role”. Other reports suggest that Hunnam’s departure is directly linked to creative differences.

The San Taylor-Wood Directed film is also supported by Luke Grimes and Max Martini who play Chris’ brother and bodyguard respectively. Eloise Mumford is cast as Anastasia’s roommate, Victor Rasuk as her photographer friend, and Jennifer Ehle as her mother. “Fifty Shades of Grey” is due in the U.S. on February 13, 2015.
