Despite many fans not approving of a possible spin-off for the very popular “How I Met Your Mother”, CBS has given a pilot commitment order that will be telling the story from a female point of view, the series will be called  ‘How I Met Your Dad’. The fact that “HIMYM” has been the flagship for CBS on Mondays can’t be ignored in the decision to continue with the spin-off. In its ninth and final season, “HIMYM” is averaging a 4.5 rating among adults 18-49, making it CBS’ highest-rated Monday series and the second-highest-rated overall behind “The Big Bang Theory”.

"HIMYM" Cast

“HIMYM” cast

The new characters will most likely (unconfirmed) be introduced in the “HIMYM” series finale and the beloved MacLaren’s Pub will be featured in the potential new series. We can expect a new voice at its center and hopefully a closely related original production with continuity between the two storylines, unless they have other plans to lure audiences back for another round?

It will be difficult for the studio to offer any guarantees that “HIMYD” will deliver the same comedic ensemble and chemistry that sold “HIMYM” so effortlessly. The successful “HIMYM” creative team (Carter Bays and Craig Thomas), alongside “Up All Night” creator Emily Spivey will pen the pilot.
