Marvel is on a roll as of late with the release of many set photos for their most anticipated comic movies over the next two years. We posted a first look at new ‘Deadpool’ stills featuring new characters a little earlier today, an now we also have some new official pics for director Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Apocalypse“. The titular villain played by Oscar Isaac as well as Olivia Munn’s Psylocke and Michael Fassbender’s Magneto are featured in the cover of Entertainment Weekly magazine’s this week issue. Wow, they really look great in full costume as we get to see them for the first time! EW also treated us to exclusive pics featuring the new young mutants of the formidable X-Men team. They include Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Jubilee (Lana Condor), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee) and Jean Grey (Sophie Turner).
For those of you not in the know, the story is set 10 years after “X-Men: Days of Future Past”. When Apocalypse awakens from his Egyptian tomb, he sees “a chaotic world of conflict and war and destruction”. Singer also revealed his plan for the new younger X-Men team members:
“[it’s] kind of the introduction to” these young mutants. “At the same time, it has concluding aspects of those previous stories,”
Singer added about the new threat in a new civilization the young mutants will be facing:
“It’s one giant civilization that now requires one giant culling. That’s why he needs special assistants in this process.”
Apocalypse will recruit Storm from the streets in Cairo, Angel from a fight club in Berlin, Psylocke who works for the mutant-broker Caliban, and Magneto who tries to live a “normal” life in Poland. Jennifer Lawrence’s Raven will be helping to rescue mutants who are oppressed or enslaved. She sets out to rescue Nightcrawler and assist Michael Fassbender’s Magneto.
This is building up to be the best movie in the series, let hope it will live up to expectations. “X-Men: Apocalypse” is set to be released on May 27, 2016.
