All-rounder badass and GeekShizzle favorite Jon Bernthal best known as Shane from AMC’s “The Walking Dead”, snagged the role as Daredevil’s the The Punisher aka Frank Castle. Bernthal became one of the most popular series villains when his character in “The Walking Dead” turned on his friends and fellow survivors in the post-apocalyptic show. We’ve always appreciated Bernthal’s work and we are delighted to see him take on the role of one of our favorite comic book characters.

Marvel made the announcement that the 38-year old actor will join the cast of the popular Netflix series. Bernthal took to Twitter to celebrate with a picture of him holding a comic book with a picture of The Punisher on the front cover.

The caption of the pic reads:

“Thanks for the love yall. Let’s get it. Honored.”

Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb says:

“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences,” “Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.”

Frank Castle is a hardboiled badass best known for his gun slinging and old school combat skills. Matt Murdock will have to get used to a new vigilante on the scene in “Daredevil” season two. In the comics, war veteran Frank Castle becomes the Punisher after his family is murdered by the Mafia. The character debuted in Spider-Man #129 in 1974 and previously appeared in three movies, the most recent being “Punisher: War Zone” in 2008.

The next installment of “Daredevil” is due to premiere on Netflix in 2016.
