It goes without saying that ‘Game of Thrones’ is set to shock and surprise fans in its upcoming fifth season on HBO. We knew from the start that author George R. R. Martin will stick to the books, and now, new reports reveal that at least one long-time actor will be axed this season.

The mysterious cast member set to take the dirt nap tells Entertainment Weekly:

“It proves you should probably not read the books.”

He/she was even surprised to learn that the character will be killed:

“I thought this season I was going to have more to do, and I was really looking forward to that. And then I got my dates from my agent and I thought, ‘That doesn’t tally.’ Because there was no way if they were sticking to the books I should be in it for that number of weeks. It seemed to me they must be writing me out.”

The actor added:

“The showrunners rang me and told me, ‘Your time is up in the series.’ I’m disappointed but you have to accept that the demands of TV are different. I find myself being quite emotional about it. I’m going to miss it. Never mind being a professional, they’re very nice people.”

This doesn’t help us one bit! We are super excited for the award-winning show to make its return next month on HBO. Who can we expect to bow out this season? Is it safe to say that Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion Lannister will be saved for upcoming seasons? Geeks reading the books will be able to predict the next big deaths, but is there any point to continue watching the show without Tyrion?
