More Bad New For The Crow Remake As Luke Evans Departs

Things aren’t looking too good for our beloved Crow remake. We are big fans of the original cult classic starring Brandon Lee, and it took as a while to get used to the fact that it will be rebooted. But, we got on board and tried to stay as positive as possible. We even listed The Crow Reboot as one of our top 10 reboots to look forward to. The original crow is also listed as one of or top 10 revenge movies. Luke Evans was set to play the role of Eric Draven, while music video helmer Corin Hardy (The Hallow) is still attached to direct The Crow, which features a script by Cliff Dorfman. Series creator James O’Barr will also work as a creative consultant on the film.

The sad news of Evans’ departure were rumored a month ago, but confirmed Today. TheWrap is reporting that Evans has officially departed the project. Relativity Studios is currently on the hunt for another star for the film, which has already had one director drop out in the midst of production. Things really aren’t looking good. Back in December 2014 director F. Javier Gutiérrez dropped out of the reboot and Corin Hardy was chosen as his successor.

No release date is currently set though production has previously been reported to begin later this year.

The Crow” was originally published as a four issue series in 1989 and was adapted into a film in 1994 by Alex Proyas with Brandon Lee in the title role. Countless other sequels to both the comic and film have been produced in the years following.
