J.K. Simmons shared some very tasty titbits about the upcoming project “Kong: Skull Island“. The 60-year-old actor was kind enough to share some details with MTV News in an exclusive interview. We can expect the King Kong origin movie to be partially set in Detroit, the “Whiplash” star said:

“When it first came to my attention, ‘There’s interest in you for a new King Kong,’ I thought, ‘Okay, why?’… But I met with Jordan Vogt-Roberts who’s going to be directing it, and John Gatins who’s gonna be writing, and [Tom Hiddleston] – Jordan was just so passionate and so smart and there’s such an interesting new take on it, and it’s set in Detroit in 1971 which is where I grew up, and we’re gonna shoot in Detroit during baseball season and I’ll be able to go to Tigers games, so there’s a lot to like about this movie,”

Simmons did not reveal any details about the plot or cast, but judging from his comments so far we are in for something spectacular! Legendary Pictures made the announcement at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con  that we will see the return of “King Kong” and “Godzilla”. Tom Hiddleston will take the lead for the new King Kong which is set to focus on the furry giant’s home, Skull Island.

“Kong: Skull Island” is set to storm theatres on March 10, 2017.
