FOX caused a small riot in the geek community while speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour this weekend. “The X-Files” creator Chris Carter mentioned last year that he is very keen to tackle a possible third installment in the film series which is based on the classic supernatural procedural TV Show.  Executives over at Fox confirmed they are planning to reboot the TV show, but no new developments have been shared about the rumored third movie.

FOX Hints at ‘The X-Files’ and ‘Prison Break’ Revival

Fox’s Gary Newman said:

“It’s true that we’ve had some conversations on X-Files,” “We’re hopeful of being able to bring that back at some point.”

Dana Walden added:

“Gary and I both worked [at 20th Century Fox Television] through the entire run of The X Files. It was a great experience. We’ve maintained good relationships with [series creator] Chris [Carter], David and Gillian. We’re very hopeful, but it’s hard. The actors are very busy. They have a lot going on. Chris has a lot on his plate, so it’s just trying to carve out the time.”

This is excellent news for “X-files” fans! According to numerous reports, the project heads will try their best to bring back original stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson if the project receives the green light. We need FBI special agents Mulder and Scully on the case, why even consider a reboot without them? More Alien invasions and the possibility of an apocalypse, count us in!

In other news, the rumored “Prison Break” revival is officially on the radar.

This is what Newman had to say:

“Although we’ve made it clear over the years to the studio that we would bring ‘Prison Break’ back in a heartbeat. It’s probably the perfect event series. If our old partners in that show are interested, that would be great.”

Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller will forever be etched into our minds as the jail breaking brothers Michael and Lincoln. The multi-award winning show stands as one of the best TV productions ever made, and sits among the best cult classics in history. I am not too keen to see the boys back after they wrapped up a gripping four season run. Hopefully Fox will let this one slide and allow us to enjoy the replays on Blu-Ray of the once beloved show.
