Beverly Hills Cop IV” is planned to take place during “the coldest winter on record”, but it seems the project might be frozen solid with no chance of revival if scriptwriters Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec are not up to the task. Production for the upcoming installment is apparently not going to great according to the Rolling StoneEddie Murphy, who’s expected to reprise his role as Axel Foley, says the script is still in the works and he is willing to walk away from the project if the script is not to his standards.

The 53-year-old actor said:

“They’re (Appelbaum and Nemec) still trying to get that script right,” “I’m not doing a ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ unless they have a really incredible script.” “I’ve read a couple things that look like they can make some paper. But I’m not doing a s**ty movie just to make some paper. The s**t got to be right,”

“Beverly Hills Cop IV” is still scheduled to be released on March 25, 2016, despite the “script issues”. The fourth installment was trapped in development hell with many attempts to reboot the popular franchise. Bruckheimer’s involvement in producing the first two installments is considered one of the main reasons why the franchise excelled. The third pic panned horribly and was mainly criticized for the exclusion of key characters and the absence of Bruckheimer and producer Don Simpson. CBS considered working with Murphy on a “buddy cop” project to adapt to small screen but that did not come to fruition.

Will we see another attempt to bring back Foley go down the toilet?
