During tonight’s series premiere of Agent Carter, Marvel released the first official trailer for Ant-Man. Or is this officially a teaser? These days it’s hard to really know the difference. What we do know is that the official teaser was released a few days ago, you can check that out here. This trailer is 1:56 min long so you decided for yourself.
We’re still not sure how to feel about Ant-Man. Ever since Edgar Wright (after spending years developing the screenplay) ended up walking away from the film because he ultimately didn’t see eye to eye with the studio we’ve been very nervous about this film being a potential dud. We’d hate for that to be the case as we are true Ant-Man fans.
Director Peyton Reed came in as a replacement, and Kevin Feige and the people at Marvel have gone out of their way to convince fans that Reed is the right guy for the job. We’ll have to wait and see. Here’s the trailer/teaser – You decide for yourself. What do you think? Does it look good, or could this be one of the studio’s rare missteps?
Our first reaction was pretty similar to Paul Rudd’s in the middle of the trailer, which is: “Huh.” It looks decent , but we needed a longer trailer to familiarize ourselves with the characters, or at least one that lets its comedic beats land just a little bit better. Also, this isn’t Winter Soldier, we don’t need super dramatic music in time with gun shots. It’s Ant-Man!
Here’s the official synopsis for Ant-Man:
“Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.”
