DC is making a big impact on the TV scene as of late. With the success of the latest addition to the slate – Flash, Gotham and of course Arrow the list of superheroes that already cameo’d and appeared on Arrow grows by the day. We don’t necessarily agree with the way CW is handling this influx of villains and superheroes onto the silver screen, but it does make for somewhat entertaining TV, because let’s face it…Depressing old Ollie/Arrow on his own would be pure torture to watch.

Sadly most of these villains gave been reduced to one episode cameos only, or the dreaded “freak-of-the-week” villain. We’re not even mentioning the growing list of would-be villains on Flash, the spin-off series that is doing exactly the same as Arrow. Here’s a list of all the Superheroes and Villains that have appeared on Arrow from Season 1 up to season 3.

Formerly known as The Count, was the dealer and creator of a drug called Vertigo. Ben Turner (Jai White) comes from an upper middle class black neighborhood in Central City. When he was only 10 years old, he saw a burglar attacking his parents, and he proceeded to kill the man with a kitchen knife. However, he survived and became obsessed with revenge, targeting and murdering members of his old team. In an attempt at killing the Fire Chief at Oliver Queen’s night club, Oliver intervened as The Hood, preventing the murder. When Oliver suggested getting him help as opposed to killing him, he refused the offer and committed suicide by stepping into the nearby fire of the burning night club.

Sebastian Blood

Sebastian Blood

Sebastian Blood

Sebastian Blood was the mayor of Starling City and an alderman, who rose to power following The Undertaking. Sebastian was a devoted alderman whose desire was to help people and dedicated himself to restoring Starling City following the Undertaking and allied himself with Slade Wilson to do so. As the leader of the Church of Blood, Sebastian, given the name Brother Blood, was to acquire an army of Mirakuru soldiers to cause enough destruction in Slade’s name, and to enforce a new era where he would guide the people of the city. However, when Sebastian became mayor, Slade betrayed him and decided to lay waste to the city totally, finished with an airstrike from A.R.G.U.S.. Feeling betrayed, the original plan having been changed, Sebastian stole the Mirakuru cure and gave it to Oliver, and was shortly after killed by Isabel Rochev.

Isabel Rochev was the vice president of acquisitions at Stellmoor International and later the CEO of Queen Consolidated. She was on “The List” and was also revealed to be a partner to Slade Wilson, as well as a member of the Church of Blood, and a member of Slade Wilson’s army. She was one of the main antagonists of the second season of Arrow. Pity we can;t see more of her. Summer Glau is always worth seeing more of.

Ra’s al Ghul

Matt Nable as Ra’s al Ghul

Matt Nable as Ra’s al Ghul

The longtime Batman foe, also known as the “Demon’s Head” Ra’s al Ghul is the leader of the League of Assassins. He is also the father of Nyssa al Ghul. He is a major player in season 3. We’re not to pleased with the casting of Matt Nable as Ra’s al Ghul, it just doesn’t feel right, seeing as Ra’s al Ghul is obviously supposed to be Arabic. Here’s everything you need to know about the Demon’s Head.

Boomerang

Nick Tarabay cast as Captain Boomerang

Nick Tarabay cast as Captain Boomerang

We simply loved Nick Tarabay as the treacherous character Ashur in “Spartacus”, and now we will have the pleasure of seeing the actor take on the villainous role as Captain Boomerang in CW’s “Arrow”. Tarabay‘s Digger Harkness a.k.a. Captain Boomerang is set to make his first appearance in the seventh episode, and will recur his role in the eighth episode. Captain Boomerang’s inclusion will serve the purpose of interlinking CW’s “Arrow” with its spin-off series, “The Flash“.

Dark Archer

Malcolm Merlyn as the Dark Archer

Malcolm Merlyn as the Dark Archer

Malcolm Merlyn is the father of the late Tommy Merlyn and Thea Queen, the husband of the late Rebecca Merlyn, the former best friend of the late Robert Queen, and a former close friend and lover of the late Moira Queen. Deathstroke

Slade Joseph Wilson (born 1968)[1], codenamed Deathstroke by A.R.G.U.S., is a former member of the Australian Secret Intelligence Service/ASIS Unit, the former leader of the Church of Blood and the second season’s main antagonist. The season was drawn out to a near stop as we waited  for Ollie to take down Slade. Katana

Katana

Katana

Though Devin Aoki was originally going to play the role, a scheduling conflict has handed it to Rila Fukushima. In the comics, Katana was historically a member of the Outsiders, and a skilled martial artist with a sword called the Soultaker that takes the souls of those it kills. The New 52 incarnation of the character has been involved with the Birds of Prey and Martian Manhunter’s Justice League of America. On Arrow, she will appear in Season 3 flashbacks, serving as a mentor to Oliver Queen during his time in Hong Kong.

The Atom

Brandon Routh as Atom

Brandon Routh as Atom

Brandon Routh will portray Palmer, described as the new owner of Queen Consolidated and a technology-minded entrepreneur with a special interest in the company’s Applied Sciences division. It’s also been heavily suggested he may vie for the affections of Felicity Smoak. It hasn’t been confirmed whether Palmer will become the Atom this season, but if he does, he’ll likely mimic his comic counterpart’s ability to shrink while maintaining his full strength. The comic book Atom was a stalwart member of the Justice League for years during the Silver Age.

Komodo

Komodo

Komodo

We saw this dangerous mercenary, played by Matt Ward, in the second episode of Season 3. An archer in the comics, don’t be surprised if he doesn’t have the same M.O. n the show due to the high number of people already slinging arrows around Starling City.

Wildcat

Wildcat

Wildcat

It sounds like the show will stick close to the original with Grant, a former boxing champion who now trains other people in the sweet science. It’s not clear whether we’ll see him in costume; it could be that Wildcat is simply a nickname. He’ll be played by J.R. Martinez. Based on what we’ve seen s far he had a vigilante past and sticks to training Laurel in the Gym.

Cupid

Cupid

Cupid

Lots of people have had weird secret admirers, but not everyone gets a really dangerous stalker like Carrie Cutter. In the comics, she turns into Cupid, a super strong and severely unhinged villain with a deadly crush on Oliver Queen. We’ll see if Amy Gumenick takes Cutter in a similar direction when she appears in the sixth and seventh episodes of Season 3.

Brick

brick arrow

Noted former footballer and tough guy actor Vinnie Jones gets the call here. In the comics, Brick is like the DC version of Luke Cage, with unbreakable, super-durable skin. In the show, it sounds like he’ll get his moniker by surviving numerous shootings. Jones is one of my favorite British actors and he is also fondly remembered by football fans for his very entertaining moments as a professional soccer player back in the day. Jones will be seen as the villainous character in episodes 10, 11 and 12 of the current third season.
