The Hollywood rumor machine is gassed up and blasting on all cylinders this week with a hot rumor via Badass Digest regarding “The Avengers 3“. We have already seen recent reports suggesting that the third installment will be split it into two parts to capture the epic final battle to conclude the conflict with Thanos. Badass is now adding fuel to the fire with their latest report suggesting that we might not see our favorite Avengers in action for the third installment. They mentioned that since many contracts are going to expire in Phase Three, Marvel might consider introducing other heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The “Guardians of the Galaxy” are already hotly rumored to join the fight against Thanos, with Dave Bautista’s Drax the Destroyer tapped to play a ‘Significant’ Role in ‘Avengers 3′.
This is what Badass Digest had to say:
“Once Avengers: Age of Ultron hits, the Marvel Cinematic Universe goes into Phase Three… and possibly the beginning of the end. The studio’s biggest actors are under limited contracts, and those contracts will begin to expire in Phase Three. Chris Evans, for instance, has just two more movies left on his contract, and Captain America 3 will eat one of those up. Robert Downy Jr has one more film, and Chris Hemsworth is also entering the home stretch. Renegotiations can happen, but they would be costly and go against Marvel’s general spirit of keeping things cheap.”
No date is officially announced for the third film, but Marvel has booked May 3, 2019 for an untitled movie and May 3, 2018 for another secret film. With all the speculating one can’t deny Marvel’s relentless pursuit to expand the MCU by bringing most of our favorite comic book characters together on the silver screen. Nothing has been set in stone, but if the rumors are anything to go by, we can expect a huge expansion that could possibly introduce enough characters to firmly cement future spin-off projects for the next decade.
In the meantime, “Avengers: Age of Ultron” will be released on May 1, 2015. Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as The Cap, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. James Spader plays Ultron, Elizabeth Olsen takes on Wanda Maximoff a.k.a Scarlet Witch, Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Pietro Maximoff a.k.a Quicksilver, and Paul Bettany becomes Vision.
