Keanu Reeves is back in action with the release of the first trailer for “John Wick“. Reeves is kicking ass and taking names in a new action movie that showcases his skills as an ex-hitman. He is forced out of retirement when a group of gangsters robbed him and killed his dog.
He says just before retrieving his “tools”:
“I lost everything. That dog was a gift from my dying wife,”
The ex-hitman is feared and respected in circles that are familiar with his set of skills. Michael Nyqvist’s Viggo tells his gangster son.
“It’s not what you did son, it’s who you did it to,”
This looks like a cool evening out at the movies with Reeves taking centre stage as a killing machine. The last time we saw him taking on bad guys he starred opposite Forest Whitaker in 2008’s Street Kings. It’s a pity that critics never favor Reeves, but I still enjoyed his work in “The Devils Advocate”, “Constantine” and “Street Kings”.
His latest movie is helmed by Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, from a script written by “The Package” scribe Derek Kolstad. Expect ‘John Wick’ to hit theatres on October 24.
Here’s the official logline for John Wick (via Collider):
An ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that took everything from him. With New York City as his bullet-riddled playground, JOHN WICK (Keanu Reeves) is a fresh and stylized take on the “assassin genre”.
