It seems that Iron Man’s solo movies has come to an end, even though Robert Downey Jr. said he is not done playing Tony Stark. While promoting “The Judge” at the Toronto Film Festival, Downey revealed that “Iron Man 4” will most likely not happen.

He told Variety:

“There isn’t one in the pipe. No, there’s no plan for a fourth ‘Iron Man’,”

Robert Downey Jr Says “No Plan for a Fourth Iron Man”

We might see Downey reprise his role as Stark in a fourth installment If the character’s history is anything to go by. Downey previously declined to reprise his role as Stark, but “Avengers” Director Joss Whedon insisted that the “Avengers: Age of Ultron” will not see the light of day if Downey Jr. is not on-board. We also highlighted previously that Downey is the Top Earning Actor of 2014 based on backend income from the previous year’s enormous “Iron Man 3” success. $75 million should be reason enough for Downey to consider a fourth installment. Marvel also raked in a ridiculous $1.2 billion in box office revenue based on the success of the third installment, with a total franchise cume of $4 billion globally.

Nothing stops Marvel from considering another actor if Downey is not interested to portray the billionaire playboy and ingenious engineer. Don Cheadle, who plays James Rhodes a.k.a. War Machine has been rumoured to take over the red and yellow suit. Mark Walhberg has also shown interest to take on the coveted role.
