Geeks following Stan Lee’s work might be familiar with one of his original projects called “Apollo Rising”, which is developed by him and “Spider-Man” producer Avi Arad. Sony thought it best to merge “Apollo Rising” with Victoria Aveyard’s “Eternal” to bring to a life one enormous Greek Gods project. Greek mythology geeks will be well aware that “Apollo Rising” and “Eternal” have very similar subjects that will allow the melding of the two projects.

Deadline has some descriptions for the two projects:
“Eternal is said to be a modern interpretation of the story about Greek Gods coming to Earth, complete with minotaurs.”
“Apollo Rising is said to be about Greek Gods which have been living among humans on Earth in various hidden forms.“
Deadline also included some descriptions for the main characters:
“Apollo is the Greek God of music and poetry, who is often depicted as an archer who carries a silver bow. The mythical God carries the gift of prophecy. He stays but his twin Artemis is out. She is the huntress which carries a bow and arrow, now reminiscent of Katniss Everdeen from Hunger Games.”
As far as the news reads about this project, it seems that one of the biggest benefits of the merger is Sony’s ability to produce epic franchises. The merger will produce an almost endless supply of ideas and scripts to produce yet another huge earning franchise. “Divergent” producer Pouya Shabazian, Benderspink’s J.C. Spink and Michael Costigan were already on board to produce, so as far as the production value is concerned, this is definitely a project to keep on our radar! Arad and Lee are staying on the project to produce alongside the aforementioned production team.
The Untitled Greek God Project is set to be released somewhere in 2017.
