Robert Downey Jr. is making good use of his Twitter account to keep his followers informed of his new developments. The “Iron Man” star officially opened an account on the social media giant in April this year. Twitter is one of the better ways to break exciting news to your fans, in Downey’s case, all 1.9 million to be precise. The 49-year-old actor gained nearly 2 million followers in under three months and now, everyone following him will be well aware of the first trailer released for the family crime drama “The Judge”.

Downey tweeted the following:

“Here’s a first look at #TheJudge. This is the kind of movie I grew up wanting to make. Only took 49 years. Enjoy.”

“The Judge”

Most people are only familiar with Downey’s superhero exploits as the Marvel character “Iron Man”. He is also well-known for smaller character based films which include the likes of “A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints”, “Zodiac”, “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”, “Chaplin” and “Only You”. He can be seen next in a film most likely handpicked by him and his wife Susan Downey, with both of them credited as producers.

In “The Judge”, Downey takes on the role as a hotshot lawyer who returns to his hometown for his mother’s funeral only to discover that his estranged father, the town’s judge, is suspected of her murder. Robert Duvall takes on the role as Downey’s father, previously earmarked for Jack Nicholson who declined the opportunity.

Directed by David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers), Downey and Duvall  are also joined by Vera Farmiga, Vincent D’Onofrio, Dax Shephard, Balthazar Getty, David Krumholtz, Leighton Meester, Billy Bob Thornton and Melissa Leo.

“The Judge” is set to be released on October 10, 2014.
