It is no secret that DC put plans together alongside Warner Brothers to develop treatments for several low-budget DC Comic movies to be released. With no less than two flicks hitting theaters each year and production starting in 2014, it might be the comeback we all have been waiting for. Some of the titles that were rumoured so far include the likes of Suicide Squad, Booster Gold, Deathstroke, Team 7 and others.

While comic book movies have proven to be a billion dollar industry with huge profits, the risks for DC’s success is very real. Green Lantern, Superman Returns and a handful old school Batman adaptations for example may not have been the worst financial performers, but from a storyline perspective there were much to be desired…not to mention the average ratings from critics. Bale’s Caped Crusader and Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel raised the bar for future DC productions and hopefully the studio can keep the momentum going.

The studio is look to expand their horizons, introducing more recognizable characters like The Flash and Wonder Woman

The studio is finally expanding their horizons!

We are still waiting for any confirmation linking “Hellboy” franchise helmer Guillermo del Toro to the rumored “Justice League Dark” adaptation. Previous reports suggested that the JLD film received the green light but it all depends on whether the film fits into the studio’s overall plans. In line with DC’s plans to expand their horizons, the introduction of more recognizable characters like “The Flash”, “Wonder Woman” and “Shazam!” will finally happen according to recent reports. With an expected release date for the first adaptation in the newly announced line-up set for 2016, the likelihood of a JLD film is looking more promising.

Thanks to Hollywood reporter Nikki Finke’s new website, we have reason to believe that Warner Bros and DC Comics are ready to make the big announcement at San Diego Comic Con this year. The stand-alone movies were revealed on Finke’s site, which also indicates the expected release dates. The most intriguing is “The Flash and Green Lantern Adventure” movie, a joint Flash and Green Lantern flick set for 2017. Let’s have a look at the line-up!
