Nic Cage stars as a commercial airline pilot in another apocalypse movie based on a 1995 novel by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. Who else would you prefer to fly an airplane when the rapture is upon us? The film will primarily focus on the theoretical theological event best known as the rapture in which true believers in Christ have been “raptured” (taken instantly to heaven) before the Earth’s destruction. 2000’s “Left Behind: The Movie” is the first attempt to adapt the novel to big screen.
The film directed by former stuntman Vic Armstrong is written by Paul Lalonde, who also serves as producer. The film set to be released on October 3, also stars Chad Michael Murray, Jordin Sparks and Nicky Whelan.
