The hotly anticipated R-rated frat comedy “Neighbors” has taken the top spot from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ at the box office. The Andrew Garfield-starrer is having a difficult time domestically while it soars high overseas.  The Marvel superhero movie added an additional $35.5 million in its second week, raking in a total of $146.2 million since its debut. In the domestic market Spidey impresses with a total of $404 million since the pic’s debut. Overall the movie is a financial success, raking in approximately 550 million worldwide on a reported budget of $200–255 million.

 ‘Neighbors’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ joins the list of our Hottest Summer Movies of 2014

Seth Rogen and Zac Efron’s “Neighbors” has taken the top spot at the box office with an impressive 49 million on its opening weekend. Proving to be a huge financial success, the pic was made on a reported budget of only $18 million. The R-rated comedy is the second-biggest opener ever for a non-sequel or spin-off comedy behind Mark Wahlberg “Ted”, currently holding the record with $54 million. The film follows a family that moves in next door to a fraternity house, and soon discovers they are unwelcome in the neighborhood. Internationally the pic also did well raking in an estimated $34.4 million.

The top 5 is rounded up with previous top contenders.”The Other Woman (2014)” takes the second spot with $9.2 million, followed by “Heaven is for Real” with an estimated $7 million. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is still in the running in fifth place this week adding $5.6 million.
